Our Trip Around the World
by Elsie Lincoln Benedict and Ralph Paine Benedict, 1926
This book measures 9 3/8" x 6 7/8" and
has 592 pages. Basically an immense, self-published "vanity" book, nonetheless
it is quite notable due to the fine binding done by The Roycrofters. This book
is bound in purple
suede over boards, with chapter vignette decorations and bound-in bookmark.
Although the book originally had a dust jacket this book is missing it.
The frontispiece is a photograph of the authors on camels in front of the Great
Pyramid.
The book presents the personal recollections of the Benedict's world
tour, a true old-style globe-trotting adventure. Locales visited included
London, Scotland, Norway, Sweden, Holland, Switzerland, Hungary, Germany,
France, Spain, Gibraltar, North Africa, Sahara Desert, Egypt, Algiers, Tunis,
Italy, Greece, Jerusalem, Damascus, India, The Philippines, Japan, Hawaii and
San Francisco.
