The Man of Sorrows
by Elbert Hubbard 1906
Note: #140 of 200 this binding is believed to be by Louis Herman Kinder.
The book measures 8" x 5" and has 120 pages. The text body is done in Scotch Roman and the edition of 200 (shown above) was printed on Imperial Japan Vellum. The regular suede edition was printed on Roycroft handmade paper. There were numerous variants of this book printed in 1904, 1904/05, 1905, 1906, 1908, and 1927. Interestingly the title page design was also used in the 1908 suede bound Man of Sorrows, in My Dreams, by John Mather Dolph in 1911 and in Jesus, A Sisters Memories from 1934.
